CCMK Attends Camp Corral

CampCorral_ziplineThe Crew headed to Brownwood, Texas on Friday, July 19 to take part in the closing ceremony for Camp Corral, a free summer camp for military children whose parents were killed, disabled or wounded during military service. Camp Corral, sponsored by the Golden Corral Foundation, is a week of fun and excitement for children who have experienced the toughest side of military life. Much like our own Camp Hero, these children can bond with each other while taking part in some amazing adventures.

This was the second year that The Comfort Crew took part in Camp Corral, and camper’s got a special treat when Co-Founder, Ronda Englander and VP of Development, Angela McDonald, personally delivered each of the 175 military children Comfort Kits to support their individual needs. The Crew provided  Taking Care of You! Kits for children of injured heroes, Memory Boxes to those children who had lost a parent, and With You All the Way! Deployment Kits for those that had a loved one on deployment.

“We had a chance to watch the staff and counselors conduct a variety of activities that were both challenging and exciting for campers. At the closing ceremony, campers were singing and spending their last few minutes talking with new friends. It was a warm, nurturing atmosphere and I was honored to be there.” said Ronda, “I am hopeful that The Comfort Crew can continue to collaborate with Texas 4-H to provide needed support for military kids across Texas.”
