Comfort Kits Distributed at Yellow Ribbon Events

The Comfort Crew has supported 3 Yellow Ribbon events for Texas National Guard families this summer in Houston, Georgetown, and Dallas. This is an effort to provide resources to the 1,000 Texas National Guard families dealing with a deployment this year. Our next Yellow Ribbon event is scheduled for July 22nd in Dallas, TX. The Comfort Crew provides a briefing to the attending families and distributes take-home resources to families dealing with a separation due to deployment. This sweet military child was so excited to receive her Deployment Kit on June 24th in Dallas. One Request From the Waitlist

The Comfort Crew for Military Kids receives requests daily from military families dealing with deployments, reintegration, injuries, and loss. While we are working hard to identify partners to help us meet these requests, we currently have a waitlist of over 1,000 families waiting to receive Comfort Kits. We received a heartfelt request from a military spouse and mother (21 years active duty Air Force) seeking to help her 9-year-old son with their recent move back to the states, his dad’s current deployment, challenges with attending a new school and being bullied, and the unexpected recent loss of his puppy. We are happy to hear he received his deployment kit and it is providing the comfort and support he needs. USAA Steps Up Big to Support Military Children

With 1200 military families on a waitlist for Comfort Crew resources, USAA employees spent their Veteran’s Day writing notes of encouragement and packing Comfort Kits sponsored by USAA for military families dealing with deployments. We’ve enjoyed hearing from so many of the families who have received these Comfort Kits packed with love. Enjoy a few photos of the project and the kids who received them!

Comfort Crew Welcomes Major General (R) Aycock to the Board of Directors

MG(R) Al Aycock is the Managing Partner of the Ramparts Group, a company dedicated to aligning business and industry with defense needs and opportunities in the areas of military base management, energy, and the Department of Defense Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) process. Before departing military service after 38 years in 2016, MG(R) Aycock was the Director of Operations, Assistant Chief of Staff for Installation Management on the Army Staff serving over 4 years in this position.  He was responsible for the Army’s $5 billion military construction program, facility standards, energy programs, and the management of the Army’s BRAC program.  During this time, his team established the Army’s first Facility Investment Program to refocus leader decision-making during a time of reduced funding and all future Army facilities were set with a standard design.  Army facility accountability to fiscal standards went from the worst in DoD to the best.  Army energy […]

The Auction Party at the Billiard Factory will kick off our 5th Annual Boots and Birdies Event on October 16, 2016 at 6:00 pm. Guests will enjoy live music by Wade Bowen, food and beverage stations from some of Austin’s greatest restaurants, a silent auction, raffle, and great company while supporting our nation’s heroes. From July 1 through the end of September, proceeds from Cornbread sales at Austin locations go to the Comfort Crew for Military Kids. What “Holiday Hope” means to our Military Family

by Sara Jane Arnett There are a lot of warm thoughts, memories, and positive connotations associated with this wonderful time of the year especially when military families have the luxury of spending those special times together, in the presence of one another. This is a luxury that most all military families never take for granted during the Holiday Season. My husband has served in the U.S. Army for 11 years. In reality, half of those years have been spent without each other because of deployments, schools, trainings, etc. My husband’s military service commitment has to be top priority, but it never takes away from our collective commitment to our family which makes times of separation lonely, but also presents opportunities to be creative for our young children.
