by comfortcrewmk on October 15, 2019

Hello everyone! Welcome back to our Galactica series. This will be the second of three blog posts where we introduce you to our guest speakers Christopher Sean and Todd Nelson, as well as our Master of Ceremonies, Craig Flowers. If you missed out first post about Christopher Sean, make sure you go and read it!

In today’s post we are introducing you to MSG (R) Todd Nelson!

MSG(Retired) Todd Nelson joined the U.S. Army in the delayed entry program during his junior year of high school in 1990.  Over the next 20 years he served in many campaigns to include Operation Enduring Freedom in Bosnia, Operation Iraqi Freedom in Iraq and Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan.  He served in 5 locations across the US, and multiple locations in Europe. In 2007, while serving in combat, MSG Nelson was injured by a suicide Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blast during a convoy through Kabul, Afghanistan.  Against all odds, MSG Nelson survived. For the next three years he and his family endured 43 lifesaving and reconstructive surgeries and hours of physical therapy. In 2010, MSG Nelson medically retired from military service. Todd spent the next year completing his Bachelors Degree at Wayland Baptist University and speaking to organizations on matters of building faith, supporting the military and recovery from struggles.  After graduation, MSG Nelson transitioned to a civilian career with USAA and attained a Master’s Degree in Business Administration. MSG Nelson is married to Sarah and has two daughters, Macaley(’94) and Meghan(’97). His top military awards include the Bronze Star Medal, The Purple Heart Medal and The Legion Of Merit Award.
