We are changing things up this year and are excited to partner with Barton Creek Country Club and County Line on the Hill to bring you an excellent day of golf and a very fun and entertaining party once again! The Boots and Birdies Charity Classic will feature a golf tournament, auction party, military special guests, and a live music concert! For those of you interested in attending the event, there will be discounted room rates at the Barton Creek Country Club as well as shuttle service for guests to County Line. MEET OUR MILITARY MOTIVATORS FOR THE AUSTIN MARATHON The Comfort Crew has identified motivating stories that will encourage our runners to accomplish their personal running goals during this year’s Austin Marathon and Half Marathon. Last year, several of our runners sent their finisher medals to their Military Motivators as a token of their appreciation. VICTORIA AND GABRIELLE These two beautiful young ladies lost their Dad, Tech Sgt Mark Smith, on August 5th, 2013. His helicopter crashed during a training mission when he was preparing for his third deployment to Afghanistan. He was 30 years old. Their family was close and they were making plans to celebrate Gabrielle’s 6th birthday that week. The day before the accident they released baby sea turtles together. RUN OR WALK To join The Comfort Crew Team to run or walk the Austin Marathon, Half Marathon, or 5K, register on your own at the Austin Marathon website. You can then start fundraising by setting up your pledge page at Everyday Hero. VOLUNTEER AT OUR WATERSTOP To join our 50 amazing volunteers and hand out water and Gatorade to the runners, sign up HERE! We are Water Stop #1 so be ready to welcome a wave of 20,000 strong, all at about the same time. Beware, it’s an early morning for our volunteers but we will have coffee and snacks to keep you warm and happy! Oh, and you get a Volunteer T-shirt!
